Part 2: The Sauerland
Section 3: Winter mountain to Arnsberg
(total 74.5 km, journey time about 4.5 hours)
Since we had very positive surprise of the Ruhr Valley Cycle Route , we naturally wanted the missing piece of the Sauerland not miss! And off we went: Used in the planning stage, the direction of the route: Start in any case in the Ruhr source in winter mountain and then to the mouth of the Ruhr, ie cycling west. Everything else rises, sweat and thick calves.
as Sunday drivers were to stop it of course, and are therefore started in Winterberg! But the cycling guide had tricked us, without a pitch is not in the Sauerland! Well, one could have imagined.
The clock source! Where does the water from the earth eigtl ?!?!? Source ridiculous ...
So back to the clock source, clock springs from an unspectacular rock to 674 m in Rothaargebirge. Passing many beautiful rustic cabins and ski lifts (mei, much like in the Alps, but only almost, believe it lacks the mountains ;-)) it was endless forest roads along.
Only a few parked just behind the clock source and Russian MIG-21 combat helicopter disturbing the peace. Why are because we did not become clear.
What was the name of, has not been opened up to us today. Perhaps the training?
From low field we went over to Assinghausen Olsberg. Then after Bestwig and Ostwig. And from there on Meschede, Wennemen, Freienohl Wildshausen, Glösingen, Oeventrop and Rumbeck to Arnsberg! So, and as my list goes now suspect already: Spectacular Highlights are not reported. BUT: calm and pure nature can indeed sometimes be very relaxing!
Route and Signage: The route
was still marked as a picture book! Due to some little hill you should still bring some breath.
Hotel Recommendation: Recommend
We highly recommend, the Country Lodge in Arnsberg! Not end of the seemingly never-ending increase put off, the prospect of compensation for some! The privately-run hotel consists of a handful of log cabins, all decorated with love. Not to mention the delicious restaurant in the area! Here's the URL:
