the alarm went at seven today. We wanted enough time for departure procedures at the port. So's breakfast pack up, shower and off to the Ticket Office. We paid U.S. $ 250 U.S. for the car and the $ 70 for us. Then we went into the harbor, where we were after something foraging by a young policeman "off duty" taken under the wing. He led us to the Immigration, Custom, Traffic Police, and so, where he helped even an English Päärchen, which had just come from Jordan, and thus keeps disappearing for some time. Meanwhile, we had a lot to chat with the English. When all was done (approximately by 12 clock), we asked ourselves before the ferry and waited and waited and waited ...

At a quarter past three we were the last to the car between the trucks and buses and are looking for a place on the ship. Since we were the last people there were not any seats left and we sat down to many others on the ground. The ship was once a Danish ferry and has many cabins to sleep. Since the trip is to last only 3 hours, the course just like cinema, restaurants and lounges. But hundreds of passengers were on deck sitting on the ground ... So completely the wrong ship for this route. On the boat, we gave up our passports for Jordanian visas, we should then get back in Aqaba. At a quarter past eight we were still in Aqaba and could go through the Jordanian border procedures. Initial visual inspection of the car from the outside, X-ray then car, then open and expand. Fortunately we did not have to overcome. After the customs building for car insurance. When I transferred money for the insurance (costs 80 Jordanian dinar = 80 €), a border guard came with the passports. Visa is in there and still free, super. Then for any street License 25 JD and we could leave the port. We had a couple of waypoints for camps in the south of the city, so we went to the first time. Since there are 4 mobile homes, travel truck and a bush taxi (79-er with Tour Factory cabin) on the beach. So we have to eat made us dinner and at midnight we were in bed ...

Today we have only times with Klaus and Willie (the Toyobesatzung) talked. Then we went to the shop to Aqaba, read mail and eat's breakfast / lunch. Back on the beach, we talked again with the other passengers sitting around and are lazy. It is very warm here. In the sun it can hardly endure. The heat we can use in the next few days, it is then surely a little cooler when we drive further north. In the evening we are Donald and Nathan (with Landy) and Kalle? (Bush taxi with Löffler roof) came. They are on their way south. With them, we sat together at the campfire. Then came yet Walter (a Swiss Renault Master) to do so. His load is apparently shorter: After he gave away the caravan to Syria, now lacks the motorcycle that was at the rear. He tried to get rid of everything ...

All morning we are today herumgekurvt in the wadi. We got through it without deflating everywhere (ok, sometimes we needed three attempts to cross a dune). Many dunes hats but not just a couple of soft sands, which are connected to the bush taxi is no problem. Afternoon, we met Walter and two other camping cars, they have taken refuge from the mosquitoes in Aqaba. As it gets warmer in the past few days, there's now a lot of it ... we went to went to Petra, where we for 5 JD (ca. 5 €) in the parking lot the "Visitor Centre can stand. " Here we met a French motorcyclist who was traveling around the world.

We are very early (alarm clock went up 5) purely in the ruined city of Petra to the crowds of visitors to come before. This has really paid off. For, as we clock out at 12 went against us were hordes of tourists. Afternoon we drove to the Hotel Al Anbat 1 ". Here we made clothes and enjoyed the hot shower.

And again we are early in and out to lunch again. Today we have a tour to the high place of sacrifice made. At noon we went north of King Street followed. In Karak, we are then bent and are going down to the Dead Sea. So we have reached the lowest point of our trip: -391 meters above sea level. Unfortunately, Friday and all the beaches are overcrowded. In addition, Xenia and I have a headache (maybe from all the up and down ride and it was constantly between 800 and 1600 meters above sea level and down), so we do not swim in the sea again and headed straight on to Amman. The "Theodor Schneller School" we reached after dark. Here we can use is available at the Guest House and the free Wifi. Heiner and Susan are from Munich, with its 207 MB here.

the morning we have cleaned windows, filled greased and water. Then quickly retrieved mail (Xenia's e-ticket is finally here) and the Safeway supermarket bought. From there we went in a roundabout way (the GPS maps I have are somewhat inaccurate) to Jerash. Here we are at the "Olive Branch Resort (very expensive: 8 € p / p plus tax) and go tomorrow look at the Roman ruins.

Sunday, 02/21/2010

The weather today is not that great (cloudy), but this is very good look at the ruins. During the day the sun is actually even out somewhat. We walk half the day marvel at the ancient Roman city, while a group of OL-runner. That make a OL in the middle. In the evening comes to wind and it is cold outside. So we sit containing inside, surf (free Wifi) and read. Because of the strong wind I go to bed put in front of the car. Tomorrow we will go to Damascus. We'll see if it works with the visas at the border.
