Cleaning White G Shocks

Sudan

Sunday, 03.01.2010, 227 km

After we said goodbye to all the other passengers, we are today followed a small trail to the main road. Then it was on mostly good tarmac road (from and to is not asphalted, but will soon be possible) towards Sudan. Of the Ethiopian plateau continued down to the border. Since we lost on the little slope so much time, we had to hurry to the end of the exit. We get the required stamps, money changed and are then entered on the bridge in the Sudan. Here we went on with paperwork. We had £ 13.75 S (Sudanese pounds - a CHF is about 2.3 S £) fee paid for the car and wait a long time. Because now the registration office was closed, we moved the registration to Khartoum and went into another 25 km into the night. We found a great thanks to GPS Bush Camp Place.

Monday, 04.01.2010, 255 km

Today we went first to Gedaref comfortable. There we bought one, exchanged money and then went to Mount Abu Khudud. There's a nice Bush Camp-Platz. Hugo took out his bow and sports we enjoyed the evening. On the way we met a few cars travel. Unfortunately, no one stopped to chat. One of them was a red Lucerne bush taxi, knows someone? We had to lay 300 km back to Khartoum -

road trip. En route we saw two bush taxis (a dark - probably blue - and a white) from Germany and the Germans met with the tractor wiedermal. In the Blue Nile Sailing Club "and chatted with us quartered Jean Marc (radel Santander Frenchman on his way to Namibia) and Frank (radel Santander Dutchman on the way to Kenya).

Wednesday, 06/01/2010

Sudan is expensive - for the registration, we had to pay £ 105 S / person - and a long queue ... afternoon, we made clothes and lounged. In the evening the Germans arrived with the tractor. But tomorrow they will continue the same. make

laundering and blog today were our main activities.

Friday, 08/01/2010

The French and the English are taking your kids to Luna Park and we are with Roy (a Scottish backpacker) and Jean-Marc the dancing dervishes went looking. Well, that's no mere tourist attraction, but Xenia stirred again by a German tour group (who are always so - says but one for Mrs "with sunglasses and these shoes but that is not authentic ..." - logical, that make real and serve for yourself and not for the tourists as a model!)

The French and English are now towards Port Sudan begin. I was on the internet (finally again a good line) and Xenia washed.

for shopping we needed today is rather long (rush hour and looking for good stores). Therefore, we are only after two went out from the city. Always along the Nile (you see it is not) we went northward. After about 130 km, we are then bent to a small dirt road. In the temples of Nagaa we paid the entry of 20 S £ / person and made a bush camp. Finally wiedermal in the desert.

In the morning we visited the temples of today Nagaa and the Lion Temple of Musawwarat. Here again we should pull the trigger 20S £ / person, but was after a long debate with the cashier £ 10 S content (we will only continue to say no ...). After we went back to the main road where we met John, Amy, and Marcel and family ( www.four4africa.com ). After a brief chat we went on to the Pyramids of Meroe. Here we are behind the pyramids on a hill and watching the sunset.

After we had breakfast comfortably , we are down to the pyramids and they have looked at us. A few camel driver wanted to talk about the camel ride, but they accepted the first "No" and let us alone. After we are up on the tar road on Atbara. There we bought bread and vegetables in the souk, then drove over the new Nilbrücke west. Middle of the desert we found a nice place for a bush camp. So we could again enjoy the starry sky.

on the new tarmac road we went on to Merowe. Here, too, hats, a new bridge over the Nile. We visited the ruins of the temple complex of Jebel Barkal and afterwards drove along the Nile towards Dongola. On the way we branched off into the wilderness for the next Bush Camp.

Thursday, 14.01.2010, 239 km

Next we went up to Dongola. Here we studied only the DHL office (our letter were then promt) and went afterwards to the "Hotel Almualim" because we were again a shower ...

Friday, 01.15.2010, 241 km

Night was awful ... Loud music from the disco below the hotel rooms and mattresses, which are located completely through, Then you could just as well sleep in a hammock. So quickly bought bread and out of the city. Again, best to tar and a new Nilbrücke. Along the Nile hats unfortunately millions of small flies, so we drive a few km away from the river to be a reasonably quiet Bush camp have.

The last stage in the Sudan desert. The road is to Wadi Halfa good and so we will soon arrive there. When we go in search of the Fährbüro through the village, we see three white seats in a restaurant and beckon us. So we join them and learn that Luca, the Italian, his Landy has already been sent and is waiting for the Wednesday ferry. The two Germans wait until they get their bikes on Sunday (Customs is today), to go further south. Mazar Mahir we learn with the group even know yet. It will help us with the shipment. In the evening we drive a little along the railroad tracks in the desert and make a few hills behind a bush camp. The Germans are here with the tractor in place and will go with us to Aswan (and the tractor with our bush taxi).

Sunday, 01/17/2010

rest day - we just sit around all day in the desert and do nothing.

Monday, 01/18/2010

Today Mazar booked our cabin and for that he needed our passports. So we drive into the village and take him to Luca together in the same restaurant. We chat a long time and evening drive back to our place back in the desert.

Tuesday, 19/01/2010

We want to know how the water transport processes occurring in again and go about the place. Right now what's going on. The ferry has arrived and is therefore very Halfa full of people. We Luca and Mazar midst of many travelers take in the restaurant. So there is an entertaining afternoon. We first fill out forms and talk a lot with the other travelers. There are a few backpackers and a couple of overland travel. Including two English women who want a Renault Espace to Cape Town ( www.afrikatxakanam.blogspot.com ), Stefan, a German motorcyclist ( www.fernwehge.de ), Isa and Hugo, two British Land Cruiser driver (HZJ 105 www.hugois.ontheroad.to / cape town ) and two poles (with Land Cruiser, however, J80). We are glad to not have one of the hotels and going, for that evening back out into the desert.

Wednesday 20/01/2010

Promptly at eleven we were back in town today. As Mazar look first at twelve left, we were again much chatting with the other travelers. Then we went to the port where we left stamp passports, and in the reception building rumsassen. Eventually I was able to find the car of the Germans put the tractor on the barge. I closed everything and then went to the other according to the passenger ship. Xenia was waiting for me in the cab and we went to Luca's to the upper deck. It took a while, until the ship pulled away at about 18.00 clock. The ferry price a meal is included, so we went supper after sunset in the Dining Room for. To Ten we went to the cabin and just saw yet the temples of Abu Simbel pull over.

for ship transport and Mazars to help with the organization we paid nearly 500 $ U.S.. We'll see if the barge really with the vehicles on Saturday arriving in Aswan and we have to do with the notorious Egyptian bureaucracy all ...

Ethiopia - Addis Ababa, the North

photo album Ethiopia is online and album Kenya has new pictures get!

Tuesday, 12.22.2009, 167 km

Today, we're finally gotten away from Addis. A brief stop at the atm, an hour wait the other at the gas station and we left Addis at noon to the northeast. More or less good tar road we went higher and higher into the mountains.

Äthiopien26 Äthiopien24

more often gabs runs and redirects. When we reached 3000 meters above sea level (and it eindunkelte) we looked for a place to camp and found a small dirt road that led from the road to a dammed stream: the water filling station sites. The guard had nothing against it, so we put out ourselves, Xenia and I were cooking for all and Älplermaccronen novel built from the pads of the left front brake, since the wheel blocked at the last minute.

Wednesday, 23/12/2009, 205 km

Next we went up on runway to 3238 meters above sea level. (The astute reader will notice now that I have in Lesotho by the "highest point of our trip" As written, it was 3232 meters above sea level I was so wrong, Sorry Now, it will be in the next few days, even a few more .....!; -)) from the tunnel of Debre Sina we went down steeply on good tar road. Kembolcha before we found the "Tekle Hotel" is a good and cheap place to stay. We can use a toilet and shower and stand in the yard.

Äthiopien27 Äthiopien31

Thursday 24.12.2009, 136 km

Today we went up and down a lot. The road is generally good and as we reached the "Lal Hotel in Woldia quite early. Again, we are in court and can shower and toilet use in a room. However, we change rooms three times before we can shower rinse warm AND ... evening, we enjoy the food in the restaurant and party with Hugh and Jo presents. There is then a long night for the adults (Marc and Roman will have a right hangover ...).

Friday, 12.25.2009, 166 km

Gashena Until today, we drove a lot of runway and construction detours. There, we said goodbye by the French (they go in the Simien Mountains, and then we'll meet again in Gonder). On our way we reached 3522 meters above sea level with a further highlight of the trip. With Almu and novel we made our way to Lalibela. The small dirt road winds steeply down first, then slowly climb back to 2500. We meet then, the first stone-throwing children. We are lucky and they never meet. In Lalibela we camp in the parking lot of the "Seven Olives Hotel. Here in Lalibela hats wiedermal correct many tourists. All come here to see the rock-hewn churches. We choose the churches tomorrow and without a guide to view. In the restaurant (where we sit today only a little) is big party dinner with indigenous music and dance.

Äthiopien38 Äthiopien29

Saturday, 26/12/2009

Today we looked at the churches. Amazingly, we have no big fight against the (partly self-proclaimed) leader. Only the entrance fee of 300 birr (almost 30 CHF) hurts pretty. The ticket is then also five days only (who probably does this to?). We look in the morning the first half of the eleven churches and in the afternoon the second half. Finally, the most famous: The many up-and down run makes pretty tired ... In the evening we eat at Ethiopian music and dance in the restaurant.

Sunday, 12.27.2009, 201 km

Today we went back comfortably to the main road. Stone-throwing children, we have not seen it yet. The day before yesterday were not there. But later on the main road gabs then some stone-throwing. To test fiber Mewcha gabs fortunately only one result: a fabric ball on the windshield, the ball is mine now! In test fiber gabs find a hotel then a small incident with a lunatic, a paving stone and about 200 onlookers. The bush taxi now has a bruised rear window. I wore it for luck like a scratch. Therefore decided Let us continue on and look elsewhere to a hotel. Debre Tabor input we then caught a rock and so does my bush taxi gotten another scratch. With the all new "Hibret hotel we found a good spot for the night. Xenia my neck and used novel cooked. I was so ko (and angry) that I soon went to bed.

Monday, 28.12.2009, 102 km

On the road to Bahir Dar gabs still some construction detours, but also much more finished pieces of asphalt. So we were coming, and after we have placed the "Ghion Hotel", we were walking in the city. When Atm gabs first money in "Aberos Café "to see pizza and dessert and the market much.

Wednesday, 30.12.2009, 87 km

Because the laundry was not finished yet, we had them in the laundry and pick up dinner for more hang dry. We drove about rather late to Gonder. There we introduced ourselves at the "Belegez board" in the yard. Armand and Martine (two French, with Landy on the road to the south) are also there and there's a lot to chat again. The way we saw the tractor of the Germans (we have in Moyale last time seen) are at a gas station.

6-month-old Terrible Cough

Saturday, 12/12/2009, 202 km

we are welcoming today went to Addis Ababa. The road is paved and it has little bumps. From Mojo, traffic greatly and it started to rain too. Driving in the city in, was again a bit tedious, but with only a "victory lap" we found "Wim's Holland House" after all. Here we are at the center and secure. As the weather is damp and cold (even by Wim) we ate at the restaurant. In the evening we went to bed soon, because it is simply out to get uncomfortable.

Sunday, 13/12/2009

rest day - Xenia makes laundry, the kids have school, Marc repair damage to his cabin, Almu, Roman and I blog.

Monday, 12/14/2009

This morning Almu, Xenia, Marc, Roman and I rumgefahren with Santana. Only a representative Landy (Marc and Roman need spare parts) and then to the Egyptian Embassy. There we were a little late gabs and therefore only the information that we should have everything: passport, passport photo, money exchange certificate on the last name of the visa applicant denominated, the completed form and each 350 Birr (about 28 $ U.S.). So we went back to Wim's. Heading the Santana then lost a brake lining and so ran Xenia and I tried to Wim's and the rest to another Landy representative. I later went to 'Vonall.com "submit to a metal workshop, a Swiss, to make new brackets for my auxiliary lights. Xenia did laundry and read. Omar came in the evening (an Egyptian motorcyclists we met in Nairobi) and we went together to eat pizza. Karim, an employee of the Egyptian. Message, Omar visited then and so did a good contact to the embassy.

Tuesday, 15/12/1009

And again, this time for the exchange of cash receipts, message. Karim welcomed us warmly and suggested an Ethiopian restaurant in the evening to go. We gladly accept and look on the way back again Landy parts. Afternoon, we sit around, chatting with two South African motorcycle riders who are newly arrived and Xenia washed again ... In the evening we go down to ten men (Omar is already vorrausgefahren) by taxi to "Fasika National Restaurant and enjoy a typical dinner with Ethiopian food, music and dance. We are all invited by Karim and thank you profusely, of course.

Wednesday, 12/16/2009

Jo, Clo, Xenia and I have a headache. So we make a day of rest. I walk in between to Vonall to my lamp holders to collect. Harald and Pierette come from Switzerland (with bush taxi on the way home). But since they already want to be at home in mid-January, we will not go together. Roman and Marc are still looking for Landy parts. As they come back so late, we go back to Wim for pizza. It is still a party at the restaurant so we can sleep at night ... not 2 clock

Thursday, 12/17/2009

Harald Pierette and drove on at 6 clock. We leisurely breakfast and then go look for Roman Landy parts and I am looking for a garage to change differential oil. The first Toyota garage from the GPS map just want great service make the second and there's no (longer). So I search more and find something close to the Airport, the official representative of Toyota Addis. There I will receive friendly and can be part of the work. So we Setting rate diff oils, grease rotate the wheels off and still the same. Then I went to the Egyptian Embassy to get the passports and invite Karim and for the weekend for dinner. Xenia has been (perhaps?) Washed again. In the evening we cook together and go to bed soon. It is unfortunately a restless night, as Xenia has an upset stomach and every half hour to the toilet must.

Friday, 18/12/2009

Xenia sleeps all day. I do not much more ... With Marc and Jo still times I go shopping in the supermarket for. Roman is still looking for parts, and later he worked and Marc depending on their cars.

Saturday, 12/19/2009

Almu, Clo, Marc, Hugo, and Jo go to the museum. Xenia is still not fit, but washes again ... novel and later I blog and work on the cars (novel alternates diff oil and spring shackles, I Change only the air filter).

Sunday, 12/20/2009

In the morning we visited people from a nearby village and Adriano gave them something motoro l for their water pump. We then drove along the now muddy from the rain snow continues to turbine. We arrived at the notorious slopes of Marsabit to Moyale. Thanks to the rains, the corrugated iron was not that bad, but our cars slid around quite a bit. 20 km from Moyale is at Santana then also broke a spring shackle and it was another service break. Roman improvised a shackle from the holder of the trailer hitch (almost the same hole spacing has).

DivKenEth02 DivKen13

In Moyale, we looked at the camping of "Kenya Wildlife Service", but the $ 15 U.S. per person we were too expensive. So soon as the border, which was surprisingly easy to pass. On the Ethiopian side, we went to "Bekele Molla Hotel, where we can be cheap. In the evening we were invited Roman to dinner because he felt guilty that we had to always wait for him. We are now just happy that we have the week-long odyssey through northern Kenya well over and behind us. And that has to be celebrated, finally, that we all go to the restaurant.

Saturday, 05/12/2009

all week - all need to recover from the exertions of the past week and we are working on the cars. Well hats caught me, too: A bracket of the auxiliary light shaking has not held up and so the lamp can be removed at first, until a replacement is found. Eletra and Adriano are already broken the direction of Addis.

Back at the garage we can wash our cars and wait for the wacky disc and the new one. Evening at half past six, we then start but still to Lake Langano. In the dark we are looking at the "Karkaro camp, cook and go to bed soon.
