How Old Is Maximounds

Kruger NP and bye bye South Africa in Nelspruit

Unfortunately, I had to leave out a lot of pictures because the Internet line in Botswana are so slow ... Sorry!

Tuesday, 09.29.2009, 200 km

So, today we went only for the first time in the Kruger National Park. We are the "Numbi gate down because we are the" Toll Road "to Malelane wanted to save. On the banks of the Sabie Riivers then we have seen some animals. On the way to the "Berg-en-Dal - Rest Camp" we saw two hyenas. In camp we had run a bit late because we could ask ourselves only to the last place, in front of the toilet, where all people ... for supper gabs again a braai.

Another game drive tag. No sooner than we went from the camp, we stopped a couple in a PW, and says that we must down to the T-junction towards "Malelane Gate should go, as were wild dogs, lions and even a leopard. So quickly turned and raced down (if the allowed 50 km / h race may be called ...). Just before the first T-junction were a few cars. A sure sign of lions ... And sure enough, there are two females and a male about 5 feet from the road and enjoy the sunny morning. Shortly after that we drove on and meet again on many cars. This time, two lions are right on the roadside:

A few miles further then the next Jam. We have to wait behind some bushes, but I find the leopard in the tree soon. He is very far away and yet because of the way cars are not as good gabs Photos:

Unfortunately, the Leopard just risen from the tree, as we were able to place well. Too bad! We then waited a long time, if it rises back to his prey. At some point, we are becoming further increased, the wild dogs of course we did not want to miss (are even rarer than the Leopard):

On our way we saw elephants and then two buffalo. I said to Xenia missing Just a Rhino to the Big Five ... "And what I see at the next river crossing: a Rhino, though far away but still ... So it was for us a very successful game drive tag. Unfortunately we had to leave the NP again today, as all camps are full. are late, we arrived in Hazyview and camped in the "Gecko Bushpackers" (simple but cheap).

The weather has not really played first, and so we have God's Window with curtains closed (fog) seen. In the evening we were at the Forever Resort Blyde Canyon "and deal well into the night with the laundry ...

Saturday, 03/10/2009, 189 km

Back in the Kruger. We went through the "Paul Kruger gate to the park and then north to the" Satara Rest Camp. Again we saw many antelope (this time even smaller as the Steenbok and the cliff divers). Many buffalo, elephant, giraffe, zebra, waterbuck and kudu - and of course countless impala. In the camp are also 14 mobile homes with Swiss (TCS tour). And also some other hats in the Swiss NP (probably because of the autumn holidays in Switzerland). So we always have to tell you how we've done an AG-car here ...

Sunday, 04.10.2009, 120 km

A Gamedrivetag - We are on side streets only to "Olifants Rest Camp" (which has no camping!) and then 'Letaba Rest Camp (where we have booked the night) down. How many hats yesterday antelope. Today we also saw some large herds of zebra and wildebeest. A hyena we caught on the roadside while eating:

Here in the Letaba we make tomorrow a washing day and rest. Let's see, maybe we might make even a small game drive.

In between, we walk along and see the Letabafluss many bushbuck (the hats at the camp) and some of Nyala. Far away hats and elephants. In the evening we do a "Night Drive". With more loudly South African students are in the Safari Mobile. We see a lot of jumping hares and rabbits, some hippos, a crocodile and several genets.

Tuesday, 10.06.2009, 151 km

Today we went to the Southern solstice circle to "Shingwedzi Rest Camp. The way we saw many buffalo, giraffes, zebras, and of course our first Tsessebe always Impalas. In between, hats and often times elephants. At night we see right behind the fence of the camp a civet cat.

Wednesday, 10/07/2009, 111 km

after further north in Kruger. Today we went to the northernmost camp, "Punda Maria rest camp". It just got hot (over 35 degrees). So it's almost a pain to be the day on game drive. We set off about the last two days even at seven. In addition to many herbivores, we saw lions wiedermal:

night walking elephant and buffalo right on far too small (in our opinion & # 8211: he is only 1 meter high) fence along the camp.

Thursday, 10.08.2009, 182 km

After a short game drive we leave the park at the "Punda Maria Gate and drive to Makhado (Louis Trichardt) and camping on the" Makhado Caravan Park right in town. I enjoy the heat to create again, and so I sit the whole afternoon in the shade and doing nothing ...

Friday, 10.09.2009, 220 km

This night cool hats violently, only still 20 degrees ... We sit in long pants and sweaters when's breakfast. During the day, but on tuts, and the sun is burning again. We are the "Mapungubwe NP "and have driven in the" Rest Camp Mazhou still get a place. Later in the afternoon we have a little round in western part of the park turned (offroad!). Once we are almost stuck in soft sand remained (We "idiots" had wanted to get the hubs open and not with the wild animals ...), but with a little drive back and forth we went without get off on. Besides many animal tracks (lion, leopard, elephant and rhino), we saw kudu, Steenbok, warthog and impala. In addition, there Hornbill, Kori Bustard and Hoopoe (the only birds that we identify today could ...). In the camp we visit baboons and green monkeys.

Saturday, 10/10/2009, 128 km

breakfast bell rang at five today, the alarm clock. Shortly after six, we were then already on Game Drive. We drove in the eastern part of the NP, the large round (with all Offroadabstechern - now with closed hub ...). There were to see some antelope, but mostly we had to content ourselves with the great landscape. turtles sunning themselves on a trunk:

Südafrika328

We spent the afternoon at the camp. At five we went again to a brief dip in the western part. On the banks of the Limpopo we saw (besides many fences of the border) a lot of impala, kudu, bushbuck, eland and warthogs.

Sunday, 10.11.2009, 240 km

This morning we went for the first time at the border Pontdrift to inform us of the "Tax Refound. There is a payment center in Groblersbrug, so we drove to Baltimore to the "Bushmen Safari Camp. So we can here this morning on the border into Botswana.
