And again I was in Africa, although only two weeks and by air ...
On 9 Nov. 2010 I flew to Cairo with Swiss. Exactly two years before I started the trip around Africa. The Xenia and I have then also celebrated :-)
Xenia also was on vacation (because of the Sacrifice) and so we could spend some time together. She lives in the 9th Stock up on Garden City (one centrally located district of Cairo) and has a wonderful view over the city:
The Büsi (the cat, a real Egyptian Mau) is about half a year old and is only temporarily for maintenance at Xenia. She had me very happy (as a scratching post), but we are glad she is now in a better apartment (where they live not just a room) may not.
With two colleagues from the GUC (German University in Cairo), we made an excursion to the pyramids at Saqqara:
The cheapest car was a Clio, which we spent a week route to the oasis on the road were:
First we went to Bahariya in the International Hot Spring Hotel. Then on to Dakhla in the Bedouin camp where we enjoyed two days of rest and some were walking in the dunes.
On the way back to Bahariya (with the obligatory checkpoints of the Tourist Police), we visited the White Desert:
Back in Bahariya, we enjoyed the thermal springs in Hot Springs - Pool (42 degrees Celsius) and made a day trip into the black desert. Our guide led Abdul HDJ 80 on us with his wonderful places where we walked and enjoyed the desert. About noon gabs a break in the Oasis Cafe with mountains of food (a table full of food for us two). When a dune we could still help a new Prado (J15) and push out the evening we again enjoyed the pool.
Then we went back to Cairo, where we went with several associates of Xenia food, felucca sailed, visited the university and the Büsi played.
