23/05/2009 Rennsteig Oberhof to Seebach - The final fireworks of any Rennsteig Tour: The island mountain

The last day was the absolute highlight of the tour - the climb to the island mountain. demanded as inexperienced cyclists lowland he us from a lot of perseverance - the prospect of the cyclists and the soft ice cream, however, compensated for a lot. Unfortunately, the route went this time often along roads, which was besieged by many motorcycle tourists. For Radlfahrer always a mixed blessing.

Day 3 - the unforeseen forces (see background) ...

The infamous island mountain! Forced even the toughest of calves in the knees!

Well, some had to push not:-P The reward was already on the table!

And the next soft ice followed immediately!

From the top of the mountain island we did not expect an ending exit end, interrupted only 10-15 against increases - we were promised 2 until the end of our journey (!) - Seebach. Here we were met with delicious cakes and sausages, and ended a wonderful 3 day trip! Not to be missed, the electrical Rostanzünder, like an oversized and flattened immersion heater looks like and the charcoal within seconds brings to the Glow!

Physically Strong Wife

05/22/2009 Neuhaus race rises to Oberhof - soft ice cream in Oberhof

began day two, day ended as one, with a good drop of alcohol as one of our fellow travelers - Rusty Ric - birthday celebrated. Thus fortified, we set out to new pitches.

The magical place - labeled by the three-river stone - to which a drop of water, it can be said to fall to the ground, while flows in the Rhine, Weser and Elbe!

Contrary to the announcements of our tour guides "Tom Trail" but neither the slopes nor heard on the roads were better. And so we thundered down with our loaded touring bikes paths, more reminiscent of single trails and demanded of man and material, the last one.

with touring bikes can certainly ride a mountain bike trail!

half !!!!!

Always a threat of rain in the neck, we limited the breaks on that day down to the essentials. Only when we reached the decorations, it was clear that we would get through the day dry foot / wheel. We did a proper break, surrounded by nothing but rockers and their Japanese cheese slicers.

The famous decorations ... The increase was not bad there, the view was anything but then again offset ...

relaxing the leg muscles ...

Oberhof surprised himself with his beautiful "Old Town" and soft ice cream stands. Only the panoramic hotel seemed totally out of place. After another day of Thuringian specialties (usually meat and dumplings), we ended the day in a bar with a gin and tonic and woodruff punch.

gabs And already the second pitch - the Beerenberg .... 982 meters!

How Toset Up For Sony Dvp- Sr200p

05/21/2009 Rennsteig Blankenstein to Neuhaus - blouses Blankenstein

Since we, the Rhine was getting a little flat but we could get together with 4 other colleagues on an adventure with a little more slope: the Thuringian Rennsteig!

The Thuringian Rennsteig begins in beautiful bright stone!

After exhausting journey (we had to be accompanied by two wheels to travel 450 km of the railway to Thuringia, unfortunately, still had many others that out) began Rennsteig Tour finally in Blankenstein, the city with the famous blouses. 200 seamstresses can not be wrong.

Cheered on by the seamstresses in Blankenstein, we started our adventure ...

The weather played along, and despite predicted hundreds of gallons of rain, we started in bright sunshine, but always accompanied by the roar of the foothills of the Thuringian Forest bouncing thunderstorms.

Thank God it was not the first bratwurst stand far!

It began umenschlichen slopes that should be for the rest of the journey our faithful companion. The Rennsteig Blankenstein is in not much more than a trail, we fought our way along. After a short time (10km!) we met at last on the first bratwurst stand and we recovered a cyclist and a pair of sausages! Five minutes later we realized that was the beginning of our trip to the Men's Day, what we saw it, to us a group of young people with peppermint liquor "- wanted to fill - some nasty Minzschnaps.

Oh yes, it was also Männertag ...

The rest of the day was always the same: 15 km cycling, cyclists, bratwurst. On the first day we had material losses - the rear fender of one of our wheels was blown up by a rock fall, which for the next few kilometers of our journey had muddy lively episodes.

tasty sausage and delicious cyclists were never far away!

Exhausted, we finally reached the Hotel Oberland, where fortunately a heated sauna waiting for us. Thereafter, roll it with delicious dumplings!

Melanoma Cancer Ribbon

03/05/2009 Rheinradweg Konstanz - Friedrichshafen - Basel - A team on the lake ...

As our overnight train to Cologne again started in Basel and we therefore had to return to Basel, we decided the last day to leave the tour take it easy. On the plan there was a ferry ride across Lake Constance to Friedrichshafen.

invite chair on the bike path edge to stay ...

we started so well rested in Konstanz. Since our bikes so stay on the roof had, they were soaking wet, thanks to the night rain. Fortunately, however, came out again in time for the sun.

The ferry launched in Romanshorn. We were lucky, the onboard computer of the ferryman was broken and so we needed to solve any bike maps. Once in Friedrichshafen, we took first coffee break, right at the launch site of the first airship in the world.

look like today Bodensee ferry?

Almost like sea ;-)

From Friedrichshafen We went by train to Rheinfelden, not to have to cover the entire 200km to Basel by bicycle. Of course, subjected to the little we were sitting on the train back on air. When we arrived in Rheinfelden, we were accompanied by constant storms just before the outbreak to Basel.

The road on the north side of the Rhine is substantially obstructed than in Switzerland. Has substantially changed villages, industrial parks and DIY from on the green meadow. Right in the middle, there were always medieval festivals, blocking the bike path. Since we still had enough buffer (the train started only at 23.00 clock), but for us that did not help much.

The Fall is near!

time for dinner, we arrived in Basel and got right back into our local pub Hirscheck. The food was excellent as always, the Basel bio "beers too!

Basel in the evening ...

here it's only the last stage is missing from the source to the Lake!

Crank Up Pontoon Trailer Plans

02/05/2009 Rheinradweg Tiengen - Constance - border crossings in all colors and shapes

this stage we have started with a small mountain bike trail! In search of the Rhine Tiengen we have somehow lost their way and landed in a bike park. Although this has been fun, but Unfortunately, we had the wrong wheels for such actions. So we have a heavy heart towards our next destination: the Rhine Falls in Schaffhausen.

how it started ... and ended in a mountain bike trail:-D

But the road there should be no easier: A pitch chased the other, because you could get almost alpine feel. But it should be worth it, yes, after all, are the Rhine Falls of Schaffhausen, the largest waterfalls in Europe. Still, there was every few kilometers border crossings of all kind, purely in Switzerland, out of Switzerland, purely for Deuschland, then Switzerland, then Germany. Middle of the forest in the middle of the lawn, right on the mountain ... You can make life unnecessarily difficult for real! There were so many small islands of the country that it was even a separate bicycle path - the Enklavenradweg!

is slow there is always more mountainous and the Rhine are blue! Scheeee!

One of the many border crossings ...

barely arrived and already the first disappointment: The Rhine Falls are not in Schaffhausen, but in Neuhausen. Second disappointment: Due to a construction site could not be reached on the observation deck, and in general, but that it is the largest waterfalls in Europe are actually quite puny.

The world-famous Rhine Falls of Schaffhausen!

So we rode fast towards Constance. On the way to an idyllic village lined up to the other. Especially nice way, Stein am Rhein.

The City Council of Stein am Rhein!

Just arrived in Constance
it poured down with rain and if that is not enough, we were able to still find a hotel. So we phoned in the pouring rain through the whole list of accommodation in order to land in a hotel with flair and '60s-year course only was the presidential suite for exorbitant sums of money freely. The prize money was clearly bad, even our mood. Unfortunately, there were not many alternatives, so really none. The wheels we still had to park on the roof (?!?!), completely frustrated we did then in search of a hearty dinner.

On a roof top ...

But there apparently was on this day state of emergency in Constance, of course, all restaurants were packed with tourists. So we are off to the next and Indians have won there the last place. Unfortunately, a small misunderstanding has made the food for human consumption (I said to the Indians "please very sharp," he understands "Indian spicy" which was synonymous with "so sharp that you will taste after the first spoonful of nothing more-aggressive" ).

Boah was the focus ...

What Is A Hyperintense Lesion?

01/05/2009 Rheinradweg Basel Tiengen - How it actually sleeps in a night train?

sweat of you know, the squirrel, and so we started again in a weekend for the Rhine cycle path to accomplish more. To save some time, we had this time made it once to call upon the services of German Railway and travel with a overnight train from Cologne to Basel. We had booked a 2-person bunk, reminiscent at first of a space capsule ... Small but functional! By 23 clock we went to Cologne release, according to a recent slumber Kölsch, we were able to sleep fine clock to 6, were awakened at 6 clock with a breakfast and were able to start fresh by 7 clock with the cycling.

Here we go in a 2 cabin of a night train from. And as you can see we were before you travel pretty much in the bucket ...

From Basel we went straight along the southern shore to Kaiseraugst. At first glance, a small village schnuckliges, which then, however, could suddenly come up with huge buildings from the Roman period. At second glance, this place was actually a museum but a complete Roman city - namely, the Augusta Raurica. The most impressive is a phenomenal theater ... Augusta Raurica was the oldest Roman settlement on the Rhine and we were there ;-)

Roman theater in Kaiseraugst

The 2 Breakfast we were then in Rheinfelden. A very small and welcoming town with a beautiful half-timbered houses. Perfect for a cozy coffee! The 3rd Frühstrück gabs immediately after running into a mountain - also a very nice town.

The Rhine in Rheinfelden

skyline Laufenburg ...

past a huge nuclear power station went to the Tiengen Hotel "Bercher" , a really nice family-run hotel. In Tiengen we have climbed the mountain and on the look-out tower, from which we had from view in the Black Forest and even in the Alps!
